Mobile Etiquette: To glance or not to glance

Wataniya mobile etiquette post

In today’s world, everyone has a mobile phone in their hand. Most people carry a smartphone for convenience: they can take a picture, share it or respond to e-mails on the go. But do we know when to put the phone down and focus on the real world?

Here are some bad habits that you may be engaging in. Make sure you send this post to friends who sometimes ignore you because they can’t stop texting!

  1. Sometimes a phone should be silent: don’t forget to put your phone on vibrate when you’re in a meeting, watching a movie or at a lecture. A phone ringing loudly disrupts and offends others.
  2. Eat, don’t text: try not to take your phone to the table at meal times. You will unconsciously keep glancing at it and fiddling with it.
  3. Choose between the cyber world and the real world: it’s annoying when in mid-conversation someone starts frantically texting on their phone, while telling those around them, “go on, I’m listening!” Chances are, they are not listening. Pay attention to those around you.
  4. Don’t Instagram It: As amazing as the picture you just took is, you should always check with those appearing in the photo before posting their picture on any social networking sites. Respect people’s privacy
  5. Be polite, even if you’re texting: nowadays business takes place over the phone and even in a short text message. Don’t forget to add words like “please”, “thank you” and make sure you read the through things before you hit send.
